A fabulous afternoon away from the office (I could get used to this)!

Long time no see!
Hello all!
Welcome back to my blog. It's been way too long. Let's go back to the begining. This blog idea started four years ago when everyone was talking blog this, blog that. Had no idea what a blog was but decided I needed one. VoilĂ ! Here's my blog.
Well four years is a heck of a long time and I feel I've failed you (my readers). I want to be a better blogger and give you more of what you deserve. A whole lotta bullshit. Merry Christmas everyone!
So let's get this party started. We have a lot of catching up to do. We can start with revisiting my mission statement below. It hasn't been a decade yet but haven't managed to get around to any of the following. Though i'd like to take some credit for getting President Obama elected.
"I wonder what the next decade holds in store for me. marriage? (still single) children? (still childress and nearing the high risk pregnancy age) a dog? (who am I kidding, I don't even want to take myself for a walk) whiter teeth? (this I can do) plastic surgery? (don't think I need it quite yet) a democrat in the white house? (check!). time will tell - hopefully you will still know me or at least have access to this blog so you can read as my life changes from talking about all the fun i have now to discussing bbq's and dog shit." -N. Suarez, 11/07/05
So let's get back to this single thing. I'm 34 and still single. WTF! Where are the 34+ single men? They cant all be married if 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Do the rest just like boys too? I'm dying to know. I'm willing to fund a study. Wondering if my life would be easier if I looked like Sofia Vergara. (I read an article about her on latimes.com - she's a freak of nature).

Speaking of nature. It's supposed to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. I wish I could remember that Sunday school song about noahs ark. It would be really appropriate.
On that note it's time for Chatalie to get some rest. Waking up at 5:45 am is no way to start your Saturday.

YES WE CAN!

I am not ready to throw in the towel yet!
And I don't think Obama is either.
Some comments regarding last night.
I must admit I was a bit down last night after seeing the California results come in, but now that I have had some time to reflect on last night, I have decided to remain optimistic. Its awesome that Obama won 13 states last night - I had no idea that he had that kind of support in these states and I think it says a lot about his appeal and the way he has run his campaign. But just don't understand the loss in California. Was it the Latino vote? If so, I blame the Clinton commercials with Bobby Kennedy and Cesar Chavez. Total propaganda. How Hillary could use their images in her campaign commercials is just amazing to me. I bet Cesar Chavez would have loved Obama. I have a feeling they worked. But not with this Latina!
Is Barack Obama really going to agree to a weekly debate with Hillary because she is running out of money. I believe thats called being SOL. Oh well! Don't do it Barack!
Lastly I was a little dissapointed when the phone rang last night and it wasn't the Clinton campaign calling. I was having so much fun cutting the caller off by saying I was voting for Obama! At least I got to delete Hillary's voicemail msg without hearing what she had to say. Its the little things that makes me happy.
So the fight for the Democratic nomination goes on! Don't give up! We have only just begun.

senor fish/murakami & other random stuff
finally went to the new Senor Fish Cantina in Little Tokyo. Not a lot of people, but you cant beat the prices. The margaritas were made with fresh lime juice (not that gross mix) and the non-premium booze well drinks are only $3. mini tacos are $1 from 4pm-9. Bartenders and owner Enrique were really accommodating - though if it gets any busier they might need to hire more folks.
check it out!
Senor Fish Cantina (adjacent to Senor Fish/across from Japanese Museum)
422 E. 1st St.
Los Angeles, CA 90012
hit the Murakami exhibit after. I really enjoyed it. but considering that Murakami has made a living by mixing art and commercialism, I was really disappointed with the gift shop items. MOCA is free every thursday.

have been listening to Mark Ronson's version. Amy Winehouse, Paul Smith and Daniel Merriweather tracks are my fave.

Another year old today
Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I feel old. How did this happen? A friend claimed that this is going to be my best year yet and all I can say is, it better, or there will be hell to pay.
Luckily the day got off to a good start. Woke up on time. Had a flattering pair of pants to wear. Hit the Jamba juice in So Pas. Made it to work on time. Gretchen brought bagels, miniature muffins, and coffee cake. I ate one of everything. Then Shannon, Rune and Fran took me to Senor Fish for lunch. Tempers flared in the parking lot after the girls went into the restaurant. Managed to avoid kicking someones ass.
Grilled fish tacos were a hit!
Had a minor celeb sighting thanks to Rune pointing out some wild haired guy from the Melvin's. see pix.

One more birthday dinner to go. Unless my dad remembers my birthday at some point. bad dad!
Other random news to report:
The Senor Fish Cantina will open tomorrow.
Whole Foods in Pasadena opens tonight.
LATimes.com has a new look. I approve.
Thats all for now.

Study Finds Working At Work Improves Productivity
WASHINGTON, DC—According to a groundbreaking new study by the Department of Labor, working—the physical act of engaging in a productive job-related activity—may greatly increase the amount of work accomplished during the workday, especially when compared with the more common practices of wasting time and not working.
"Our findings are astounding: By simply sitting down and doing work, employees can dramatically increase their output of goods and services," said Deputy Undersecretary of Labor Charlotte Ponticelli, who authored the report. "In fact, 'working' may revolutionize the way people work."
Perhaps even more shocking, the study reveals that not working significantly decreases worker productivity, sometimes even resulting in no work getting done at all. Similar findings were reported in the areas of avoiding work, putting off work, complaining about work instead of actually working, pretending to work, and fucking around.
"Fucking around is in fact detrimental to the work process," the study reads in part.
To conduct the study, researchers split the staff of a Washington-based insurance company into two groups and assigned each group a series of tasks to be completed by the end of the day. The control group engaged in normal workplace activities, such as standing around and talking, staring vacantly at the computer screen, and surfing the Internet. The other group was instructed to do work and complete its given tasks. Incredibly, the group that did not do any work failed to get any work done, while the group that did do work finished all the work.
The researchers believe that these lessons could possibly be applied to fields outside the insurance industry.

Typical workplace activities, such as shooting the shit, turn out to be less productive than not wasting time.
"Based on the study, we can safely conclude that if an employee's job is to process expense reports, doing a crossword puzzle will result in the successful completion of that task zero times out of 100, while processing expense reports will result in the successful completion of that task 100 times out of 100," head researcher Richard Schoemberg said.
Jon Halper, a Baltimore-area small-business owner, claims that people used to laugh whenever he told them that the key to worker productivity was not checking friends' MySpace pages for hours at a time, but rather working.
"After this study, I feel vindicated," said Halper, who believes working is so important that for years he has required all his employees to work throughout the day. "Hopefully, more companies will embrace the idea that employees working on things that they are supposed to do is practically essential."
A similar study conducted at Harvard University over a period of three years attempted to determine conclusively whether working was more productive than various different subsets of not working. The results showed across the board that working is 100 percent more productive than listening to music and checking e-mails, 100 percent more productive than meandering around the office socializing with coworkers, 100 percent more productive than playing online Sudoku, 100 percent more productive than watching YouTube videos of nostalgic childhood television programming, 100 percent more productive than reading celebrity-gossip blogs while chatting with friends on Instant Messenger, 100 percent more productive than napping, and 98.2 percent more productive than not showing up to work.
Despite the staggering new findings, many American workers say that they still do not feel comfortable working on the job.
"I love coming into work every day," Arlington, VA sales manager Bryce Davidson said. "I get to have great conversations with [office receptionist] Sandy, challenge myself with Yahoo! TextTwist, and still have time to set my fantasy-football roster. Why would I want to ruin work by working?"

You ignorant slut!
Mirthala Salinas has been suspended without pay for 2 months by Telemundo. poor girl! I hope their love can withstand all of this scrutiny. And would someone please tell Antonio to please keep his mouth shut about all of this. If he doesn't want people to talk about it, then stop answering questions from reporters.

Whats on my mind
It's been quite a while since I posted something. I think my brain stopped working a while back and can't seem to focus on one thing. Here is a start.
Jeremy Blake/Theresa Duncan:

A sad ending to what seemed like a charmed hipster existence. What happened here? Apparently good looks, talent, paranoia, and scientology don't mix.
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/celebrity/la-et-doublesuicide3aug03,0,1210003.story?coll=la-home-entertainment
2008 Presidential Campaign:
Is it possible that I have already lost interest? For now Barack Obama has my vote, if he gets the nomination. Guess Hillary will get it if she does.
Barry Bonds:

The guy is an asshole. no disputing that. And I love the Dodgers, but its going to be kinda exciting to see him hit one more. Can't wait to see the reaction of the crowd. With Tomko pitching, it will probably happen tonight.
